Crash Pad for Urban Explorers – Alpha Mosaic Brisbane

18Feb

QWeekend Escape – 14 Feb 2015

At the northern end of the James Street shopping strip, just a few blocks away from the bass-thumping bustle of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley nightlife, new hotel Alpha Mosaic is in the sweet spot to cater to the cosmopolitan business set, holidaymakers on a city break, and upscale hipsters looking for a crash spot after a big night.

Occupying four floors adjacent to a new 18-storey development on the corner of Church and Ann Sts, and crucially with plenty of basement car parking, Mosaic opened last July. It’s the third in a small chain of boutique hotels – the others are in Sydney and Canberra – that already has the basics spot-on. The 51 rooms and two-bedroom apartments are sleek and spotless in shades of black, grey and crisp white, while copper bedside light fittings and capacious, comfy armchairs in rich blue and purple provide a splash of colour. The floor-to-ceiling windows in our first-floor room ( right) slid back to lead on to a balcony – every room has one – with a million-dollar view of the CBD’s towers.

Everything about the Mosaic screams “home away from home”, whether you’re looking for a chilled-out base for an urban holiday, an evening workspace if in town for a conference, or just a bolthole after a party bender. Boredom, overwork or a hangover can all be staved off with a couple of clicks to get one of dozens of movies streaming on your 42-inch LCD TV for under $5 a pop. In-room wi-fi is available for the same price, and it’s free in the chic lobby while you’re lounging on one of the big, vintage-style couches. The front desk is open 24 hours, and joins up with the bar, so there’s always someone on duty to pour you a cool drink.

Bigger and better things are planned for the hotel. At time of writing, they were working on a deal to let guests use the Valley Pool, just across Wickham St; and, as more restaurants move into the building’s street-level storefronts, joining first tenant Sol Wholefoods, it would be simplicity itself to arrange room service delivery from any one of them – they all back on to the same lift as the hotel.

Not that this place is any slouch when it comes to food. The hotel has its own bistro, which opens for dinner four nights a week, and a formidable room service menu. While it was closed the evening we stayed, it’s open seven days for hot or cold breakfasts, with a hot buffet on lazy Sunday mornings – the chef does a superb fry-up to set you up for the day.

Born to Race – Meet Shane Van Gisbergen

29Apr

Shane Van Gisbergen was born to race. From pestering his Dad Robert to buy him a Suzuki ATV at the tender age of five, to signing – at just 17 years of age – a contract to race V8 Supercars for top Ford team Stone Brothers Racing, the constant in his life has been competition.

During 2013, Shane excelled in not one, not two but three different national-level race series, and raced – at last count – five different cars. His 2014 schedule is looking just as busy…as a sponsor of Shane Van Gisbergen, Alpha Hotels & Resorts wish Shane and the team another successful year on the track.

You can keep up to date with his progress at : http://www.shanevangisbergen.com/

Alpha Hotel Eastern Creek in Pole Position for Growth

31Mar

Alpha Hotels & Resorts unveils its first hotel in NSW at Eastern Creek with a $10 million redevelopment plan to capitalise on market growth.

Australia’s newest privately-owned Hotel company, Alpha Hotels & Resorts, has officially launched Alpha Hotel Eastern Creek (formerly Chifley Eastern Creek), its second upper midscale hotel for 2014. The Group-owned hotel boasts a prime position directly opposite Sydney Motorsport Park, within one of Western Sydney’s fastest growing Corporate and Industrial Estates.

Alpha Hotel Eastern Creek will be transformed through a $10 million investment to meet increased demand for full-service hotels in the area by 2015. Market growth is expected to be fuelled by NSW Government infrastructure projects proposed for the Broader Western Sydney Area including; the location of future employment land and centres, a road network, potential freight and transport corridors and staging scenarios.

In late 2014, construction will commence on the addition of 60 new rooms at Alpha Hotel Eastern Creek, creating an entirely new floor on top of the existing premise increasing the room count to 162. By completion in 2015 it will be the largest hotel in the area.

Jonathan Wooller, Founder and Managing Partner of Alpha Hotels & Resorts said, “With uninterrupted views over Sydney Motorsport Park, and surrounding areas, the Alpha Club floor will have 60 additional guest rooms and social areas that will incorporate contemporary interior design, the latest technology, entertainment and amenities for the fast-paced, style-conscious traveller”.

“Both the Alpha Club floor and the exceptional dining experience offered at Oak Bar & Grill, will distinguish Alpha Hotel Eastern Creek as the World-class hotel provider in the heart of Sydney’s growth corridor’, he added.

Revitalisation and branding initiatives already completed for the hotel include the transition to the vibrant Alpha brand identity and the launch of its responsive, mobile-friendly website with “Best Price Promise”.

Alpha Eastern Creek also opened its new dining destination restaurant last month after a major up-market revamp of its popular bistro-style dining space. “Oak Bar & Grill” is located within the hotel but in its own unique space. Hotel guests, visitors to the area and businesses can enjoy Oak’s chic but chilled out atmosphere with indoor and alfresco dining.

Alpha Hotels & Resorts made its entrance into the market at the start of 2014, opening Alpha Canberra in Tuggerangong in February. Alpha Mosaic Brisbane, a landmark 18-story hotel, 213 apartment, commercial and retail complex will set the benchmark for a new-build Alpha property when it opens in the second quarter of 2014.

Majority owned by Alpha Hotels & Resorts, the boutique Diamant Hotel in Potts Point will also provide Alpha Hotels & Resorts an affiliated Sydney property of exceptional quality.

Alpha Hotels & Resorts to own and manage hotels in Brisbane, Western Sydney and Canberra.

Australia’s newest privately-owned hotel owner and management company, Alpha Hotels & Resorts, has announced its plans to grow a significant Australian footprint of upper midscale hotels, resorts and apartments covering major capital cities, key urban centres and popular leisure destinations.

The founding group of properties will all be owned and managed by Alpha Hotels & Resorts, and will include a collection of strategically located, well-established hotels that will be rebranded as Alpha Hotels, as well as a new multi-use hotel and retail development.

Alpha Hotels & Resorts will make its entrance into the market at the start of 2014, with Alpha Canberra in Tuggerangong from 1 February, Alpha Eastern Creek in Western Sydney from 1 March, and Alpha Mosaic Brisbane in Fortitude Valley to follow in April.

Majority owned by Alpha Hotels & Resorts, the boutique Diamant Hotel in Potts Point will also provide Alpha Hotels & Resorts an affiliated Sydney property of exceptional quality.

Jonathan Wooller, founder and Managing Partner of Alpha Hotels & Resorts said, “Our upper midscale hotels in Canberra, Eastern Creek and Brisbane will wear the bold new Alpha branding but will have their own local twist and personality, with the physical product ultimately shaped by the requirements of the customers that stay there.

The style, facilities and food will be unique to each hotel and will complement its local environs, however the customer journey and service experience will be 100% aligned with Alpha standards which will be backed by our money back guarantee”.

Alpha Canberra, Tuggerangong’s most prominent hotel, is completing the final stages of a million dollar renovation, with the hotel’s lobby, restaurant, bar and gym boasting a sleek new look by 1 February 2014, when it becomes the first Alpha hotel to open its doors.  The 100 rooms will also undergo refurbishment in late 2014.

“The transformation of the hotel comes at a time when the area is undergoing a remarkable renaissance. There is an energy in the area with new constructions such as the SouthQuay residential and retail development leading the way. New offices, restaurants and retail outlets are opening all the time”, said Bruce Holliday Alpha Hotels & Resorts Managing Partner and Alpha Canberra General Manager.

Situated among Western Sydney’s fastest growing Corporate and Industrial estates, Alpha Eastern Creek is also set for an extensive redevelopment in 2014 to meet increased demand in the area.  The creation of a new dining destination restaurant, called “The Oak Bar and Grill” will be launched at the hotel in January 2014, with construction commencing on an additional 60 new rooms, and a unique Club Lounge with uninterrupted views over Sydney Motor Sport Park later in 2014.

Alpha Mosaic Brisbane will set the benchmark for a new-build Alpha property when it opens in the second quarter of 2014. The landmark 18-story hotel, 213 apartment, commercial and retail complex is part of Fortitude Valley’s transformation as the new heartbeat of Brisbane.  The Hotel will feature 51 boutique hotel rooms, a combination of one bedroom and two bedroom self-contained apartments, restaurant bar and a Podium-level alfresco oasis.

Alpha Hotels & Resorts will continue to build on its proven track record of successful hotel management with its hotels in Canberra, Brisbane and Eastern Creek as a priority. Plans to build the brand, and expedite a network of hotels where owner’s and guest’s expectations are consistently met at optimal operating costs will be scaled up from mid-2014.
